   Please do not fall out of your chair.  This is not a mirage.  We actually got and are forwarding to a you notice of a virtual event for which you do not need a stopwatch to time when it is to start. 

   The National Office of the UNA in Canada has announced that on May 20/Thursdayfrom 2:00-3:30PM we can view the presentation of the Pearson Peace Medal to its 32nd recipient: the Rt. Hon. Beverley McLachlin – former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada.   It has been claimed that decisions made by the Supreme Court, “under her leadership, have contributed to shape and elevate the recognition and respect of essential human rights in Canada.”  

   The attachment to this e-mail has more details, but are some of key points about May 20th.  Along with reflections from Ms. McLaughlin, there will be a panel to discuss emergent challenges confronting the Canadian justice system, including how international law and jurisprudence has relevance to Canadian legal practice. Among the panelists will be: 

– Grand Chief Wilton Littlechild; 

– Ann Fitz-Gerald, Director Balsillie School of International Affairs; and

– Godyne Sibay, Regional Managing Partner (Ontario) of McCarthy Tetrault (tbc).

Also, the Hon. Landon Pearson is expected.
